Launch - DRI OCT Triton Swept Source OCT

Press Release - Launch of  Topcon DRI OCT Triton Swept Source OCT
Capelle aan den IJssel, The Netherlands  – Topcon Europe Medical, pioneer in Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) diagnostics, announced the European launch and availability of Topcon’s DRI OCT Triton, swept source OCT with multi modal fundus imaging

Swept Source technology
Swept source OCT is a huge improvement over conventional OCT. Due to optimized and invisible scanning light, there is better detection of deeper layers in the eye. Furthermore, this light also penetrates better through cataracts, hemorrhages, blood vessels and sclera.

Invisible scan speed
Patients cannot be distracted anymore with the invisible scan light. This results in a reduction of movement artefacts, and increases repeatability. This is an advantage with elderly patients and children.

More information in less time
Swept source technology scans much faster compared to conventional OCT technology. This considerably reduces time for scanning.

Better penetration
The high penetration of the swept source light can easily and clearly visualize deep layers in the eye, such as choroid and sclera. Further benefit of swept source is the possibility to have with one single scan, images showing vitreous to choroid, that are uniformly clear and noise-free. This eliminates the need for time consuming vitreous/choroidal combination scans.

Topcon OCT legacy
In 2006 Topcon was the first company to introduce a commercial Spectral Domain OCT. The range of SD OCT incorporated a true colour fundus camera, which proved to be a valuable and unique tool in OCT analysis.
In 2009 Topcon introduced the series of  models, the 3D OCT-2000 and the 3D OCT-2000FA+ which converted the OCT into a unique multi-modal tool for OCT imaging, true colour images, FA an FAF images.
In 2012 Topcon introduced the first commercial retinal Swept Source OCT, the DRI OCT Atlantis. The Atlantis produces stunning images of the vitreous body and choroidal structures.
In 2013 Topcon introduced the world’s first fully automated SD OCT with integrated true colour fundus camera, the 3D OCT-1 Maestro. The 3D OCT-1 Maestro is operated by one touch of your finger tip, which is unique in the world.
